A warm welcome to the website of                                   NETHER GREEN METHODIST CHURCH, Sheffield

The congregation at Nether Green comprises people of all ages and backgrounds. Some have been involved in church life for a long time, others are just starting to find out what church and the Christian life are all about. Our common aim is to explore the Christian message and to encourage each other in living it out in our daily lives. It is an inclusive church where all people are welcome regardless of gender, gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity, disability, mental or physical health or social status.

The church and the minister at Nether Green, Revd Judith Jessop, are officially authorised to host and conduct the marriage of same-sex couples. In recognition of its inclusivity, warm welcome, hospitality and listening ear, the church was awarded 'Church of Sanctuary' status in February 2025.

OUR MISSION & VISION

Nether Green Methodist Church’s mission is to share the love of God by serving the local community.

We do this by: -

• being open to local people and others with whom we come into contact,

• encouraging the use of our premises by potential partners and community groups,

• seeking to be a good neighbour to those involved in schools and healthcare in the local area.

Open to People

Nether Green Methodist Church is an intentionally inclusive church.

We welcome people who identify in different ways in terms of gender and sexuality.

We welcome people from other cultures and countries.

We welcome people who experience neuro diversity.

We welcome people who wish to explore faith and spirituality in a variety of ways.

We are doing this by:

• ensuring our web site and noticeboard display the rainbow flag and speak of inclusion, and

by seeking to provide a safe space,

• working towards “Church of Sanctuary” status,

• exploring varying ways of worship which connect with a range of people,

• planning to explore possibilities for prayer and reflection to complement the weekly Sunday

worship.

Premises in Use

Nether Green Methodist Church is pleased to share our premises with others.

We are delighted to host a nursery serving local families.

We serve the local community, especially through the lunch club.

We aim to strengthen connections by:

• actively seeking other ways to connect with local people,

• being ready to welcome more community groups to meet on the premises.

Good Neighbour

Nether Green Methodist Church aims to be in conversation with the local school and GP practice to

see how we might support them in their work.

We aim to do this by:

• sending greetings to the local school at the beginning/end of terms,

• making contact with the local GP practice to discuss shared concerns.
